Linda Jack (Chair)

Linda spent time in the army working as an analyst in special intelligence then trained as a teacher and taught for a short while. She then went on to join the Youth Service where she worked predominantly in inner city areas both as a club based and detached Youth Worker. She left her post as a Youth Service manager in 2004 to join the FSA as Youth Policy Adviser on the Financial Capability Strategy and leads on the element of the strategy that aims to reach young people not in education employment or training (NEET).

Linda is an active trade unionist and chair of Unison’s national Youth and Community Workers Committee. She has recently been elected as a Unite representative at the FSA. Linda is a former chair of her local party and until last year was an elected member on Bedford Borough Council. In the 2005 General Election she was parliamentary candidate for Luton North and is currently a prospective European parliamentary candidate in the East of England. She is also currently a member of International Relations and Federal Policy Committees.

Rosie Anderson

Rosie is a former print and broadcast journalist, on graduation she started as a Hugo Young Intern at the Guardian before moving on to the BBC in Millbank and Scotland. She is now a policy researcher and project manager with the RSA where she is responsible for creating, running, publicising and evaluating projects which unlock citizens’ potential to make their communities better places to live. She is also co-ordinating her local party’s communications strategy for the upcoming local and national elections.

At the BBC Rosie was part of a working group developing strategy for engaging with young Scots during the last Scottish elections. At the RSA she is a member of the Connected Communities team. She regularly works in consultation with FRSAs and the public to create action research projects and formulate policy recommendations.

Elaine Bagshaw

Elaine is the Chair of Liberal Youth. She has previously held the post of Chair of Nottingham City Youth Council from 2000 to 2004, worked as a Youth Worker for Nottingham City Council and a Youth Advocate for Changemakers.

Alex Cole-Hamilton

Alex is the Chair of Scottish Party’s youth policy working group.

Gareth Jenkins

Gareth works in policy and campaigns for the NSPCC in the areas of child poverty (he sits on the campaign strategy committee of the End Child Poverty coalition); youth justice, in particular, a campaign to end the use of pain restraint methods (working with Lord Carlile of Berriew); the impact of domestic violence on children; Safer communities/safeguarding policy; equal protection for children against assault (banning smacking).

Gareth previously worked on a public engagement project at the Hansard Society for parliamentary democracy, and previous to that spent six years working in above the line advertising as a strategic planner and project manager.

Nick Perry

Nick is the Lib Dem PPC for Hastings and Rye. He has previously worked as an advisor for the Lib Dems in the London Borough of Lambeth and went on to become the Group’s spokesperson on social justice and tackling poverty. He currently works as a mental health social worker.

Martin Shapland

Gillian Stunell

Gillian is a member of the Schools Policy working group. She is on the Board of the National Governors’ Association which provides her with links to aspects of education in all phases including SEN, PRUs etc. Gillian has raised five children with a wide range of abilities and educational experiences.

Adrian Trett

Adrian is secretary of DELGA. He is particularly concerned about homophobic bullying at school and the behaviour of youths with regards to sexual orientation and providing help and support. Adrian is also interested in sport for youth and providing facilities and places to go to tackle and reduce youth crime.
