Robin Teverson (Chair): Whip and DEFRA spokesperson in the House of Lords. Chairman of Wessex Asset Management. Former Chief Executive of Finance Cornwall Ltd. Chair of Liberal Democrat Finance and Administration Committee 1999–2002. MEP for Cornwall and Plymouth West 1994-99, during which time he led the successful campaign to gain Objective One status for Cornwall. Before being elected as an MEP, worked as managing director of UK distribution company and director of an international logistics company.
Graham Bishop: Runs a consultancy on EU affairs; member of the European Commission’s Consultative Group on the Impact of the Euro on Capital Markets; Special Advisor to the Treasury Select Committee in 2003 on the implications of UK joining the single currency; Specialist advisor to the House of Lords Select Committee on the European Union in 2003.
Jane Bonham-Carter: Lords spokesperson DCMS covering media issues and the Arts. Sits on the House of Lords Select Committee on Communications. Also an associate of independent production company Ten Alps/ Brook Lapping. Director of Communications for the Liberal Democrats (’96-’98), Editor of A Week in Politics for Channel 4 (’93-’96) and Producer of Panorama and Newsnight for the BBC (’88-’93). Member of the Advisory Board for Centre Forum; Rehabilitation for Addicted Prisoners Trust and a Council member of Britain in Europe until it was wound up in 2005. Interest in making Britain a good environment for the creative industries.
Duncan Brack: FCC Chair, Chair of last Liberal Democrat Trade Policy working Group, Vice Chair of Meeting the Challenge working Group. Former Director of Policy for the Liberal Democrats.
Vince Cable MP: Shadow Chancellor and Deputy Leader of the Liberal Democrats. Former Chief Economist for Shell and head of the economic programme at Chatham House.
Tim Gordon: 2005 PPC Rotherham. Member of 2003 Liberal Democrat Trade and Industry Working Group. Principal at the Boston Consulting Group (BCG) working on strategy and organisational change projects for large companies in the media, consumer goods, financial services and pro bono practice areas, helping them respond to pressures of a globalised economy. Previous business experience includes management roles at the Financial Times.
Dr David Hall-Matthews: Parliamentary candidate for Leeds North West in 2001 and Hemsworth in 2005. On the Executive Committee of Camden Liberal Democrats and previously a member of International Development and International Trade and Investment working groups. Lecturer in the School of Politics and International Studies, University of Leeds. Has published books and articles on the impact of global markets and of market-friendly policies on poorer communities. Author of a chapter on ‘Globalisation and the Role of the British State’ for Grayson, R, Brack, D & Howarth, D (eds), Reclaiming the State: Social Liberalism in the 21st Century, Politico’s, 2007 (forthcoming).
Linda Jack: FPC Member. Background in Teaching and Youth Work and as active trade unionist, now working for the Financial Services Authority on their Financial Capability Strategy. Serving as Lib Dem Councillor and currently sitting on International Relations Committee. Former PPC for Luton North.
Cllr Heather Kidd: Former Leader of South Shropshire District Council. Member of LGA Regeneration Panel. Member of recent Local Government Working Group and last Housing Policy Working Group. Interested in reflecting the rural and environmental impact of globalisation.
Andrew Mayer: Activist from Bermondsey. Previously a member of the Employment and Trades Unions Policy Working Group and the business tax sub-panel of Tax Commission. He is currently employed as a Global Trends Manager for BP, monitoring globalisation trends. He has previously sat on the government’s Broadband Stakeholder Group. Within the party he set up Liberty Research, and the Young Professional Network, now Connect.
Sarah Teather MP: Shadow Secretary of State for Business, Enterprise and Regulatory Reform.
Peter Price: FPC Member and Welsh representative. Member of the European Parliament 1979-1994, where he chaired the Budgetary Control Committee. Now advises on EU policy development, sits as a part-time Chairman of Employment Tribunals, and serves as a non-executive director of an NHS Trust. Member of current Working Group on Europe.
Amy Rodger: FPC Member and Scottish representative. Board member of the Centre for Scottish Public Policy, a think-tank which works across a range of governance issues in the context of Scottish society. Has managed European employment/employability projects for the Equal Opportunities Commission and Glasgow City Council, addressing the challenges created by the changing nature of both the workforce and the jobs market.
